The only thing that can end Peter Black’s streaks are a long bleach soak, or a fire.

I got out for a ride yesterday. its starting to get dark out earlier which is going to kill my chances to ride. I go with friends at night with LED headlamps but i dont think its really a good idea to do by myself.

There are some led lamps that produce a warmer color temperature light, which really helps with depth perception at night. I found the bright blue-white leds almost impossible to use for night hiking, let alone riding.

No kidding. Headlamps are a good idea though. The problem I have is rain. Pacific northwest. Most of next week is supposed to rain here.

dont get the handle bar lights. You can see them out of the bottom of your view of vision and it makes it harder to see. if your trail riding your handlebars are pointing all over the place goin over roots and around rocks and that is the direction your light will be pointing
the helmet/head lamp will always point where you are looking. the lights coming from above / slightly behing your eyes so your eyes can adjust to the darkness better
think of it as putting and LED strip on your hood or on the roof, the roof will work better.
then you also have that light for all sorts of other shit like working under cars - need more need to hold a flashlight

its been pretty overcast here all week, but on the other hand, i’ve found slashing in puddles fun since I could walk, and that still holds true today

Oh for sure on the puddles. And riding damp trails in general is great. It just gets crappy when it’s super wet and you’re just flinging mud everywhere and sliding all over wood features and roots. This last weekend we hot a trail that had some upward sloping wooden bridge things because the trail was really sketchy basically on the side of a small cliff face, anyway I had to walk my bike up it because it was too wet to get traction. Any amount of power put into the pedals would cause the tire to slip, and that was freaking me out with a 20 foot fall to my right.
